South Africa has one of the highest incidences of bullying in the world. Bullying is any unwanted, aggressive behaviour among school aged children that involves a real or perceived power imbalance. The behaviour is repeated, or has the potential to be repeated, over time. There are many different forms of bullying and it has become clear that bullying now takes place in various environments and through different mediums (such as technology). The impacts of bullying are serious and research shows negative outcomes for bullies and the victims of bullying in later life. This course is aimed at guiding teachers, parents and healthcare professionals in the theoretical knowledge of bullying and developing skills to practically implement strategies and programmes to prevent and deal with bullying in a variety of contexts. The course is comprised of the most up-to-date information in the field and makes use of a range of interesting case studies, as well as a comprehensive strategy toolkit which can be applied in real life situations.
