This course has been structured using a blended learning approach. The aim of the course is to provide a solid foundation in the theoretical knowledge of Dealing with Tantrums and Meltdowns and the practical application of this information to support caregivers and children affected by these difficulties. Teachers, parents and other healthcare professionals will learn how to understand the difference between a tantrum and a meltdown, identify the underlying causes of this behaviour and the red flags to look out for in addressing the behaviour. This short online course will provide learners with underlying theoretical knowledge, tools and guidelines to deal with tantrums and meltdowns.

These hours are structured in the following manner:
- 5 hours of reading and self-study using the allocated readings and learner guide.
- 3 hours completing the formative and summative assessment activity requirements for the course. This includes multiple-choice questions and knowledge questions.
- 2 hours completing the practical and case study requirements of the course using case studies developed for the purposes of assessing applied knowledge of the content of the course.
